Gewürztraminer

Gewürztraminer

Among all the array of varieties, Gewürztraminer has always felt like the one the fairies borrowed first….or we borrowed from them :)

This perfumed beauty can carrying armfuls of rose petals, jasmine, honeysuckle, lilac, and orange blossoms, wrapped around juicy lychee, ripe peach, candied ginger, and warm spice. Sometimes dry, sometimes sweet, it glides across the palate with a satin-like texture that feels almost weightless despite its remarkable intensity.

This isn’t a timid variety! It seeks companions just as bold. I love it beside fragrant curries, where its perfume softens the warmth of spice without disappearing beneath it. It happily dances alongside fish sauce-laced dishes like Bún Thịt Nướng and smoky plates of Char Kway Teow, matching every savory, caramelized bite with blossoms and spice of its own.

Yet my heart always wanders back to the mountains. Give me a wedge of alpine cheese dusted with fragrant herbs and edible flowers, a cool afternoon with the sun tapering through the treetops, and a glass of Gewürz
